My wife works mostly in the evenings. So, I have to take care of our daughter after daycare until late at night when my daughter goes to sleep.
Usually, my wife gets home in time just to put our daughter to bed.
And during weekends, my wife is often working as well.
So, one day on the weekend, I took my daughter to the mall. I think she was between 2 and 3 at the time.
And this time I had to go to the washroom. Which for me was better than her going because I don’t like putting her on the toilets. She touches everything and she might fall on the public bathroom floor, and who knows what.
I dread taking her to the public washrooms, particularly in restaurants. Malls are usually better.
Luckily in this mall there was a family room.
I took her into a family washroom and did my thing – I had to pee.
What was funny was that when I finished, my daughter goes:
Good job daddy!
And she starts clapping her hands.
It’s these types of moments that I wish I could record this, but, at the same time, I know I can’t.
But, it’s a memory that I know I’ll never forget.
It’s funny how a washroom incident like this can bring so much joy to being a father.
It was my daughter imitating what me, my wife, and daycare workers say to her each day.
Before being a father, I would never have known such a silly thing can bring so much joy. Even those reading this who aren’t a father yet, you won’t know the feeling until it actually happens.
Anyways, more to come with documenting my fatherhood tales!
