Online marketing, also called digital marketing, is using online channels to market your product or service. Online channels include email, website advertising, social media, and search engines.

Understand being a Salesperson
I know as a mortgage broker, you need leads and clients to maintain or grow your business. I used to be an Investment Advisor myself. I didn’t like it. But, I know what it’s like having to build a client base from scratch.
Manage a Mortgage Website Dedicated to Educating Mortgage Seekers and Connecting them with Mortgage Brokers
I run a mortgage website that is dedicated to educating consumers about mortgages. Although only 8 months old (as of December 2017), it’s already ranked highly for mortgage related search terms in Google Canada, which brings in mortgage seekers to my site. During the first 8 months when I started this blog, I was a full time stay at home dad caring for a 1 year old daughter. So, I wasn’t able to do much. My daughter just started part time daycare in December. So, I have a bit more time now.
Focus on Marketing
You may have learned the hard way that paying a designer to do your website didn’t actually help you get any leads, as beautiful as it may have looked. That’s because a beautiful website is just that! Looks is important for maintaining a visitor, but, if you have no visitors, then don’t focus on looks too much. Just make sure it’s clean and user-friendly.
There’s more to getting leads than a great looking website. Look at it this way, in the Yellow Pages (I know, who uses that, but, just bear with me), there are xx million listings of people and businesses. When someone gets added, does anyone know? Nope.
This is the same thing with a website. When you create a website on the internet where there are about 140,000 new web pages per day and over 1 billion listings (2014), do you think anyone will know?
So, how do you get known? It’s no different that old school advertising and marketing, you have to tell people. The “new school” however has some new channels such as ads on websites, emails, social media, and search engines, particularly Google.
My strategy is to provide marketing services to mortgage brokers by running a website that attracts mortgage seekers. It’s pretty simple, right? The reason using my service is better than a other SEO services is that I run an independent mortgage website to connect mortgage seekers with mortgage brokers. It goes hand in hand.
The Difficulty with Mortgage Broker SEO
The difficulty with SEO for mortgage brokers is that most of you offer the same services to people. New mortgages, refinancing, self-employed, etc. I know very well that the service offering is the same. So, your website content is also the same as the next mortgage broker. It’s just re-written slightly differently.
That makes it hard to rank highly when all your competitors have written the same topics on their website. And it’s even worse if the text is copied exactly the same like I have seen. Your money is better spent on actual marketing rather than paying for the website.
My Value Proposition
This is where I come in. I already have a website that describes your services in my mortgage broker guide, Why Use a Mortgage Broker?
It’s already search engine optimized. It’s independently written, and it’s unique, researched, quality content. Not the same boiler plate content used from one broker to the next. You get all this while I focus on the marketing and social media aspects of getting visitors to Mortgage Crunch so that your listing gets exposure to mortgage seekers. And that’s how you get leads.
Managing your social media takes a lot of time. It’s not just about sharing articles. Have you already tried that? Just sharing articles and hoping people will come to you. It doesn’t work. Everybody does it already. And we’re sharing the same articles. We’re inudated with too much information of the same old thing. And it’s just getting worse.
Did you know that one key factor in getting ranked in Google are long articles? That’s right, articles of about 1800 words is the sweet spot. It used to be much shorter than that, but, now it’s long.
What does this mean? It means people are just writing longer articles written with useless filler, even if the point is a simple sentence. This is another reason why we’re inudated with information. It’s not necessarily quality information, just excess, filler information.
Let me deal with this crap which is actually making it harder to rank and hindering quality websites from getting seen. You can focus on your business of providing superior customer service to your clients.
Now let’s look at the technical aspects of my mortgage website:
- My site runs on VPS and SSD. I pay more for my hosting for speed because slow loading websites lose visitors.
- I use SSL encryption, which is when you see https instead of http. That’s better for SEO.
- I use one of the best premium themes for WordPress, the Genesis Framework. It’s SEO optimized, secure, clean coded, fast loading, responsive design, and well supported.
- I’ve installed enhanced security to reduce the chances of getting hacked and having my site taken down
- The Web Host I use is ranked the highest quality ranked Web Host by PCMag in 2017.
- I’m ready to upgrade my hosting package to deal with increased load on my site.
So, let’s summarize, I’m a technology consultant that specializes with working with massive amounts of data, I do SEO (search engine optimization) and online marketing, and I run a blog / website on mortgages dedicated to educating mortgage seekers and helping mortgage brokers.
My strategy for getting you leads is through backlinks on my mortgage website to yours. Acutely attracting mortgage seekers via search engine optimization and social media. However, for me, SEO is cost effective. For you, it isn’t. You can pay several hundreds of dollars, even thousands per month on SEO.
So, being listed here makes sense. On top of that, I don’t charge any money! (At least for now for my current services.)
What’s the catch? I just ask that you like, follow, and / or share one to three of my articles on social media.
